Tim is the Director of OA Physical Therapy Center and clinician at the Physical Therapy Center clinic. He obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Science from UNE in 1993, is a licensed Physical Therapist and Certified Athletic Trainer. He has fourteen years experience in sports medicine and orthopedics, as well as athletic training for high-school, college, and semi-pro sports. Tim specializes in athletic knees and shoulders, and sub specializes in treatment of swimmers, runners, and cyclists. He has a focused interest in biomechanics of cyclists and proper bike fit.
Tim has extensive training and education in manual, hands-on therapy through Mulligan, McKenzie, McConnell and others for mobilization and myofascial release. He integrates his hands-on skills with focused sport-specific functional training and applied biomechanics to achieve treatment goals.
Tim believes firmly in injury prevention has been staffing Certified Athletic Trainers at high schools throughout Southern Maine for 12+ years. Since 2000 he has been the Physical Therapy Instructor in the OA/Maine Medical Center Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship Training Program.
Tim and his wife Nikki live in Yarmouth with their daughter Kadin and faithful Vizsla Ruger. He is an avid outdoorsman. [physical therapists]
Jared Buzzell, PT
Jared Buzzell is a licensed physical therapist and holds a B.S. degree in physical therapy from the University of Vermont. He worked in the orthopedic PT department at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire before moving to Maine and joining OA in 2000. He specializes in sports therapy with a special interest in the biomechanics of the golf swing and how they relate to performance. He was certified in ‘Back to Golf' in 2005 and attended the first annual Titleist World Golf fitness summit in 2006. He has developed and manages the Golf Performance Program at OA where he does thorough movement and swing assessments with video analysis.
Jared has done extensive course work in various treatment philosophies, including Mulligan, Cyriax, Maitland and Kaltenborn, in addition to numerous hours of functional training and sport specific seminars. In 2007 he became a Certified Mulligan practitioner (an advanced manual therapy certification) by completing his coursework in the Mulligan concept and passing the credentialing examination.
Jared's passion and enthusiasm for athletics, as evident through his personal involvement in various leagues, ski/snowboarding, golf, and triathlons carries over into his treatment philosophy with creating biomechanically sound athletes and promoting athletic wellness/ injury prevention.
Jared resides in Scarborough, ME with his wife Kate. The two of them are avid hikers and are members of the AMC White Mountain 4000 footer club. [physical therapists]
Erica Skolnekovich, PT
Erica received her Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy in 1998 from Daemen College in Buffalo, NY and started her career in Pittsburgh, PA in outpatient rehabilitation. Upon moving to Maine, she managed a PT clinic in Westbrook offering outpatient orthopedic rehabilitation as well as conditioning programs and treatment to patients undergoing chemotherapy. For 5 years she actively treated patients and promoted employee wellness teaching weekly exercise classes for employees.
In 2005 she decided to focus her efforts on treatment of the athletic population and joined OA Physical Therapy Center. Erica believes in rehabilitation through functional and sport specific training. She has developed and implemented post surgical hip protocols and actively participates in the OA Wellness initiative as a member on the wellness committee.
Erica promotes health and fitness as a certified Jazzercise Instructor, teaching weekly classes in Portland. She is also a member of the internationally competitive and performing, Royal River Chorus. She provides weekly active warm ups to develop stamina for performances as well as the promotion of proper singing posture with choreography among members.
Erica and her husband live in Freeport, both enjoy road and mountain biking as well as hiking with their dog. [physical therapists]
Angel Soutuyo, ATC
Angel Soutuyo received his Bachelors degree in Biology from Catholic University of America in 1994 and his Masters degree in Sports Medicine from the United States Sports Academy in 2002. During college he worked with the Washington Capitals as an athletic training intern. Upon graduation in 1994 Angel worked for two years in the Continental Indoor Soccer League as the Head Athletic Trainer. He is fluent in Spanish and also served as the team translator. He then worked in professional hockey as the Head Athletic Trainer for the Daytona Beach Breakers and then for the Quad City Mallards winning two championships. He spent eight years with the Portland Pirates, before joining the OA Physical Therapy Center staff.
Angel has been a clinical instructor for UNE students for the last eight years and has lectured on athletic injuries from the field diagnosis to the training room and treatment, including concussions.
Angel is a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers Association. Angel and is wife reside in Portland with their son Lucas. [physical therapists]
Stanley Skolfield, ATC, CSCS
Stan received his Bachelors degree in Athletic Training at the University of Southern Maine in 1996. Upon graduation he was hired as the Assistant Athletic Trainer at USM working with the athletic teams, developing strength and conditioning programs, and instructing undergraduate students.
Stan has been involved with the training, nutrition, and rehabilitation of athletes at multiple levels. He has worked for the Boston Red Sox providing injury prevention and rehabilitation for in-season teams. He also implemented off-season performance workouts at the training facility in Fort Myers, Florida. Upon returning to Maine he worked for HealthSouth and was later hired by OA Physical Therapy Center. While working in these orthopedic clinics he has incorporated his athletic training, strength & conditioning, and functional orthopedic rehabilitation knowledge into his treatment programs.
Although Stan works with all athletes, he specializes in the injured throwing athlete. At OA Physical Therapy Center he utilizes the indoor throwing area and video analysis assisting ballplayers in identifying biomechanical flaws in their throwing motion. After motion analysis he then focuses on their weaknesses to correct deficits helping the athlete optimize their performance when they return to the field. Stan is also a speaker for local high schools and colleges presenting on topics of sports performance program design and implementation.
Stan is a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) through the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) as well as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). [physical therapists]
Michael J. Mullin, ATC
Michael is a clinical athletic trainer at OA Physical Therapy Center with more than 14 years of experience. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Physical and Health Education from Plymouth State College, New Hampshire. In the early 1990's he served on the faculty of New Hampshire Technical College. He is an NATA Certified Athletic Trainer and a registered Physical Therapy Assistant in California.
Michael served as Coordinator of Rehabilitation Services and Head Athletic Trainer at The Stone Clinic in San Francisco, an orthopedic surgery, sports medicine, and rehabilitation facility for 6 years. He also served as Head Athletic Therapist for Lawrence Pech Dance Company, Smuin Ballets of San Francisco, and The Marin Ballet. He has provided athletic training services for the national champion Old Blues Rugby Club, the U.S. Windsurfing Association National Championships, the US Ski Team, and the World Pro Ski Tour.
He has developed an injury prevention and performance enhancement program called AcCeL which seeks to educate individuals and groups on training and biomechanical awareness. He is currently a consultant on injury prevention and treatment to Portland Ballet, local and regional high schools and running clubs.
Sports Medicine Author and Consultant: Michael has co-authored a book titled "Comprehensive Approach to Sports Injury Management" and a chapter in "Knee Ligament Rehabilitation" called New Techniques in Cartilage Repair and Replacement". He has been a sports medicine and fitness consultant for numerous publications such as Shape, Women's Sports & Fitness, Women's Sports Connection, Men's Fitness, Skiing, and Windsurfing magazines. He is a clinic advisor for the American Running & Fitness Association; he also serves on the Editorial Board for Aspen Publications' Sports Medicine and Athletic Training Patient Education Manual. Stacey L. Doyon, OTR/L, CHT
Stacey received her Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of New Hampshire in 1984. Although initially working with neurological and orthopedic injuries she specializes in hand therapy. She has been with OA since 1989 and in 1991, she received her certification in hand therapy and became a member of the American Society of Hand Therapists (ASHT). Stacey is a past president of ASHT and has been involved on the board of since 1998. She has been a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association since 1985 and a member of the Maine Occupational Therapy Association since moving to Maine in 1986. Stacey has also been an adjunct professor at the University of New England and has done lecturing here in Maine and across the country in the field of hand therapy. [physical therapists]
Todd Castonguay, PT
Todd received a Bachelor of Science degree in physical therapy
from the University of New England in 1997. For the past 10 years he has worked
in a general outpatient orthopedic setting for Keystone Rehabilitation Systems in
Ephrata and Lebanon, Pennsylvania, where for the last five years he served as director
of the Lebanon facility. Todd has a life-long love of sports, as a participant and
a spectator, and he enjoys helping injured athletes return to competition. He has
treated a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions and especially enjoys working
with clients who have undergone knee or shoulder surgical procedures. Todd is a Maine native and he is very excited to return to his home state with his
wife, Sara, and their two children.
