Physical Therapy Center: Comprehensive Range of Care

The OA Physical Therapy Center specializes in injury recovery for all levels of sports and athletes. Our team facilitates rapid access to complete recovery. Frequently, we see patients within a day or two of their physician exam when return to full function is critical. We immediately address acute swelling, pain, and compensatory issues and initiate a home program to maintain strength and motion. We have a specially designed running, throwing, golfing, and agility floor for assessment and sports training needs. Once discharged from physical therapy, many athletes segway to the Parisi Speed School to further progress sport specific strength, agility, and skill development to maximize performance.

An integral part of the success of the Physical Therapy Center is our focus on a comprehensive range of care including pre-habilitation. Whenever possible, we train our patients to achieve best possible fitness and movement skills before surgery to shorten the duration and expenses after surgery. We provide:

  • Pre-habilitation to prepare athletes for surgery
  • Acute injury therapy to manage pain, minimize compensation
  • Post-operative recovery to return to competition and work/school
  • Transitional Sports Rehabilitation to minimize risk from the transition of physical therapy to performance training and back to competition
  • Sport Specific Biomechanics Assessment and training to identify and address movement skill issues, overuse problems, and to help athletes achieve the highest level of efficiency

From physical therapy for acute injuries to post-operative procedures, we maintain close, daily communication with our OA Sports Medicine Center physicians and have ready access to MRI Center and x-ray data. In addition, our clinicians work just down the hallway from the OA Surgery Center. This close proximity allows us to assist in the management of post-op pain, crutch, and immobilizer use and to schedule PT appointments promptly after surgery.

Biomechanical Programs for Athletes
Our physical therapists know and understand athletes. We have designed and developed our treatment protocols and work closely with our physicians to overcome the vast challenges of complex injuries. Our highly experienced staff identifies and corrects biomechanical issues through physical examination and the use of digital video assessment. Our goal is to quickly and accurately identify what may have contributed to the injury or slow the recovery. Most often, our athletes return to their sport stronger, faster, more agile, and more biomechanically sound than they were before their injury. Our biomechanics programs include:

  • AcCeL Assessment Program: Designed to help prevent ACL injury for specific sports, and to return ACL injured athletes back to play post-surgery
  • BikeFit Assessment: Designed to identify and correct bike fit and associated cycling related physical problems
  • Throwing Assessment: Designed to identify and correct biomechanical deficiencies that contribute to shoulder and elbow pain
  • Running Assessment: Designed to identify and correct gait related problems and improve running efficiency to overcome training/racing limitations from injuries
  • Golf Swing Assessment: Designed to analyze and correct golf swing and physical problems that limit performance

OA PT Center provides these programs to our insured patients as a component of their therapy when appropriate. We also offer these assessments as a fee-for-service visit for customers who may not be attending PT but would like an assessment. The cost for a fee-for-service assessment is $200. Please call any office to inquire about scheduling availability.

On average each of our therapists have over 10 years experience. Our knowledge and hands-on expertise allow us to collaborate easily with a wide network of experts including massage therapists, personal trainers, and coaches. Our commitment is to help each patient and meet his or her every need during and after treatment.
